Amira is an award-winning Israeli-Jewish journalist and the author of "Drinking the Sea at Gaza" (Henry Holt, NY, 2000) and "Tomorrow Will Be Worse" (in Italian, Fusi Orari, Rome, 2004). She is presently on leave from "Haaretz", where she reported from the Occupied Palestinian Territories from 1993 to 2007. She lived for three years in Gaza, and has been living in Ramallah since 1997.

Nazir Ahmed is from a working class background and very proud of that. He says that he is not a typical member of the House of Lords, but very much a peer of the people.
He is a Labour member of the House of Lords. In 1998 he was made Britain\'s second Muslim peer (the first being the 3rd Baron Stanley of Alderley (1827-1903)) by being raised to the peerage as Baron Ahmed, of Rotherham in the County of South Yorkshire.
He is heavily involved in Middle Eastern issues, and has led delegations to Sudan and Darfur under the BRITISH MUSLIM PEACE AND RECONCILIATION INITIATIVE. In 2004,he led a delegation to Palestine and met with the late President Arafat, as well as visiting Gaza.
He says, "As a British Muslim I feel that this multi-religious, multi-ethnic society has a great contribution to make in the world, because we have started this dialogue of civilisations here, and that dialogue of civilisations and understanding of each other\'s religion, each other\'s beliefs, can be extended to the rest of the world."

Andrews, Christopher (Ireland)

Chris Andrews TD has been active in the Dublin South East constituency for almost 10 years. In May 2007, Chris topped the poll in Dublin South East gaining 6,600 first preferences. He was Councillor on Dublin City Council between 1999 and 2004 and between October 2006 and May 2007.
Chris is convenor of the Dail Finance Committee, and is a member of the Trade, Enterprise and Employment Committee and the European Scrutiny Committee.
Chris is passionate about politics and feels that there in no greater honour than to serve people in a democracy.
He believes, "we need fair responsible policies that will bring about a greater balance in our society and ensure that everyone has an equal right, and opportunity, to participate in education, training, work and leisure and where services are accessible and focused on the real needs of people."

Eva Bartlett is a Canadian human rights advocate who lived for 8 months in 2007 in various West Bank areas under siege or settler attack, volunteering with the International Solidarity Movement. She also stayed in Egypt for 4 months in 2008, meeting and writing about Palestinians from Gaza in hospitals and at the Rafah border crossing to Gaza. She will be staying in Gaza for several months working with Palestinians there.

Captain. Denis has been involved with boats for 45 years beginning with small fishing boats in Portsmouth. He learned to sail while at school and has been part of the sea ever since. He\'s a certified yacht master and has also worked on heavy marine equipment from yachts to large dredgers. This is his second of many trips (he hopes) to Gaza.

Graham, Derek (Ireland, Palestine)

Derek has been a qualified electrician for 20 years. He was a member of the reserve defense forces in Ireland for 21 years and was the first member of the reserves to make the Army sailing team. He has been sailing all of his life and was the first mate on board the Dignity. He was also first mate on the Free Gaza when it made the first trip. This is his third Free Gaza voyage.

McNeill, Pauline (Scotland)

Ms McNeill is the convenor of the Cross party Group on Palestine in the Scottish Parliament. She has been a long time campaigner supporting the Palestinians and arguing for peace in the middle east. She was a UK observer for the Palestine\'s Elections in 2006 and lead a delegation in conjunction with MAP ( Medical for Palestinians) earlier this year She is helping to take convoy of Medicine in January next year and will be driving most of the way . She is also helping to establish a clinical exchange with doctors in Scotland with doctors in Gaza.
She represents Glasgow Kelvin in the Scottish Parliament and is Labour spokesperson on International Development Europe Culture and External Affairs.
